Sometimes Discovery Disputes Do Not Bring Out the Best in Us – Part II
June 20, 2024

It was an honor to be part of a presentation on “Social Media in Litigation” to the Maryland Judicial College today, together with The Hon. Paul W. Grimm (ret.), Magistrate Connie Marvel of Wicomico County, Craig Ball, Esq., my co-professor, Alicia L. Shelton, Esq., and Ms. Ashley Aranega.  The program lasted most of a day and began with a discussion of key Maryland decisions on authentication of social media.  We did demonstrations of a pro se litigant offering evidence from a cell phone and a mock direct examination authenticating a Facebook page.  There were also discussions of two important cases pending in the Supreme Court of Maryland, the scope of social media discovery, emojis in litigation, Deepfakes, and a demonstration of X1 Social Discovery by Ashley Aranega of Pagefreezer.
