Sensei Enterprises, Inc., president Sharon D. Nelson, reported on a law school ESI seminar, as follows:  “In the spring of 2008, The Honorable Paul W. Grimm and [Mike Berman] developed a three-credit ESI workshop for law school students.  The class was first offered at the University of Baltimore School of Law, and it alternates each semester with the University of Maryland School of Law.” The seminar’s goal is to teach both the current state of the law as it applies to ESI, and also to provide practical solutions.  In addition to presenting the basic legal framework for addressing ESI issues, guest lecturers demonstrate practical applications of ESI solutions.  The students draft a preservation letter or litigation hold notice, prepare a paper on when the duty to preserve is triggered based on a complex fact pattern, and end the semester with a mock conference of the parties.
